Gowanpark is the ideal centre for holidays and camps.

A walk along the banks of the River Clyde, approximately 25 minutes, will take you to the centre of the village.

Location

Gowanpark, offers excellent residential accommodation and camping facilities in a sheltered rural location, approximately 1 mile outside the village of Crossford, in the Clyde Valley.

Campsite

The secluded campsite is fully equipped for both unit and patrol camping and can accommodate four patrols and leaders.

Outdoors there is one main altar fire and also 4 patrol fires under shelter. There are four picnic tables seating eight people at each.

The camp shelter provides a small indoor space, toilets and shower together with fridge/freezer and sink unit.

Cottage

The recently refurbished residential accommodation is fully equipped and sleeps 24 in a centrally heated cottage suitable for any time of the year.

The dormitory sleeps 18, a young leader’s room sleeps 2 and the guider’s room, sleeps 4.

There are 2 showers in the main bathroom with the guider’s room having the benefit of an en-suite.

The kitchen is equipped for all your needs including crockery as well as a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.

On site activities:

There is a play fort with chutes and swings for Rainbows and Brownies use only (currently under repair).

At the top of the property, within the wooded area, there is a campfire circle with pit and seating. This area is being developed further and it is hoped to provide additional activities including a trail and a “Night-line” in the near future.

Sensory garden & Outdoor musical instruments will complete the outdoor activities available on site.

Off-site Activities

Gowanpark is within walking distance of the village of Crossford. A walk along the banks of the River Clyde takes approx. 25 minutes and in the centre of the village there is a play park and a small shop.

New Lanark is only a 30 minute bus journey away, as is M&D’s Theme Park at Strathclyde Park.

Swimming is available at the Carluke Leisure Centre or Lanark Lifestyles Centre.

Gowanpark is also conveniently situated for easy access to the Clyde Walkway – the long distance path from New Lanark to Glasgow.

Costs

Cottage (Per Person Per Night):

Girlguiding South Lanarkshire: £7.50 – Min. Charge per night £100

Girlguiding (Outwith County): £8.00 – Min. Charge per night £105

Other Organisations: £8.50 – min. Charge per night £115

Above changes include use of bedding provided. An initial deposit of £50 is non-returnable in the event of cancellation or the facility not being left clean and tidy. In addition, breakages will be charged for.

Other organisations £6.00

Day/Evening bookings for cottage or campsite:

£20.00 per facility an initial deposit of £10 is non-returnable in the event of cancellation or the facility not being left clean and tidy.
